Ages 4 - 6

At this age, children are naturally naive and curious, with boundless imagination. In fact, imagination is at its peak in terms of art development milestone for this age group. This is a good time to create based on enriching and compelling stories, culture awareness, medium and fun techniques exploration, sensory discovery, mark-making and observation.

Art projects are conducted in a manner that children can learn at their own pace, without pressure, ranging from 1 lesson to a span of 2 to 3 lessons (depending on the depth of the project). We do not believe in rushing for completion, just to achieve a decorated display. It is the essence that matter- A confident child that says:"I can express myself", "My ideas matter" and "I can create!"

Ages 7 - 12

Children of this age group are aware of space and relate well to objects. They start to steer towards realism, showing more awareness to their surroundings and progress on observation skills. At Avid Art Studio, we love to tap in on their questions and interests to introduce thought-provoking ideas for creation. Be it through storytelling, sharing of a personal experience, exploring culture and nature, design, or a new technique discovery, our lessons encourage critical thinking and problem-solving, and the confidence to develop original ideas and artistic expression.

Art projects are carried out in a span of 2 to 3 lessons (depending on the depth of the topic and amount of details required). We hope to bring out the child that totally enjoys the process of learning and being aware of their community, independant in creative problem-solving, persistent in upskilling their drawing and painting techniques whilst being able to develop their own style.

Ages 13 - 16

At this stage, children are generally more advanced in knowledge and observation skills due to the increase of their life experiences. They have the ability to distinguish and appreciate art and have strong opinions on how to present their artwork, yet still immature in terms of skills. This is where we come in - to introduce deeper artistic concepts, visual analysis, and interdisciplinary learning that connects art with history, culture, science, and contemporary issues to facilitate their art learning experience.

Art projects are carried out in a span of 3 to 4 lessons (depending on the depth of the topic and amount of details required). Through artistic research and projects that tap on presentation and portfolio development, we hope to nurture an individual with a unique perspective, who can communicate ideas through art and possess the ability to build a body of work!
